Øystein Ulsberg Brager/Writer Residency - Residencia para escritores

Øystein (Norway, 1983) is a director, writer, and playwright in the independent theater scene in Norway. He graduated with honors from Rose Bruford College, Romerike Folkehøgskole (Acting), and Hartvig Nissen VGS (Drama), Oslo, Norway.

“I aim to understand this culture as deeply as possible. I’m writing a podcast series set on a fictional island where the population is largely from here. To faithfully capture these characters, my script has to be steeped in everything Argentine: sensations, flavors, smells, colors, and textures. What can be captured and conveyed through sound? How do these characters speak? Languages, stories, references, attitudes, conversations with colleagues… everything I can absorb during this time will be very useful for my work.”

What it's like to write in La Plata,Buenos Aires, Argentina/ Residencia Corazón

La Plata is not Buenos Aires. That's the first thing writers notice when they arrive.

It's one hour by train — close enough to feel connected, far enough to feel different. A university city, a planned city, a city with its own rhythm. Wide streets lined with trees, parks designed on a grid, a national university that fills the city with students and academics and a particular kind of intellectual energy. Writers who come here to work tend to find it useful in ways they didn't expect.

Since 2006, Residencia Corazón has been welcoming writers, artists and curators to its house in the centre of La Plata. What we offer is not complicated: a room, a studio, time, and the people who run the residency — Juan Pablo Ferrer and Rodrigo Mirto — who come by every day, not to check on the work but to help with whatever the writer needs, whether that's a connection to someone at the university, a recommendation for where to read, or just a conversation about how the project is going.

Some writers come with a project already underway. Others come to start something they've been putting off. Some come because they need distance from their usual context to hear their own work clearly. All of them find the house works in a particular way: it's shared with visual artists from other parts of the world, and that proximity — not forced, not structured — sometimes generates unexpected things. In May 2026, a poet from Singapore spent a month writing poems that emerged from his daily conversations with an Austrian painter who was working in the studio next door. He sent us the poems after he left.

If you are working on a novel, a poetry collection, an essay, a play, a research project, or something that doesn't fit neatly into any category — La Plata might be useful to you.

Applications are free and open year-round. We respond within 24 to 48 hours. If you need an official invitation letter for a grant or fellowship, we issue it the same day you request it.

Yuhan Sun/ Curator Residency 2025

Yuhan Sun (China, 2000) is a researcher-curator who moves fluidly between the artistic, social, and cultural spheres, shaping her approach with each new experience. She views each role as a way to deepen her curatorial perspective. Embracing the process of learning from scratch, she weaves together knowledge from contrasting fields to build a rich and textured practice, rooted in critical thinking, cultural connection, and unexpected interactions with both her subject matter and the audience.

Yuhan Sun holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Curatorial Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.

“I have a sincere fascination with the cultural narratives of South America and Argentina and their ability to inspire reflective creative practices. The curiosity I’ve nurtured through research has awakened in me a sense of admiration and a desire to understand firsthand their complex histories and vibrant communities. During my residency, I hope to delve deeper into the community spaces surrounding the center. These spaces hold stories, narratives, and potential for creative exploration. My goal is to develop site-specific projects that foster a deeper sense of connection. This might involve collaborating with resident artists or taking the form of participatory workshops and creative interventions that engage with the rhythms of daily life. By amplifying the voices and experiences of the people who inhabit these places, I hope to bring an artistic and reflective perspective to their unique character, while working collaboratively to imagine new possibilities. I see this residency as an opportunity not only to create, but also to listen, learn, and transform myself through the collective spirit surrounding Residencia Corazon and its community.”

During his stay, Yuhan worked on a collaborative curatorial project for the exhibition “We Don't Need to Know What a Unit Is” by the local collective “Club de la Pintura.”

In Argentina, “poecía” has never been just writing: it is sung, improvised in public squares, and shared in literary cafés and at gatherings organized by young artists themselves. It is a language that the body makes its own and the voice amplifies, opening up cracks of listening between control and silence.

The artists in this exhibition (Club de la Pintura) come together out of a love for “poecía.” They choose to write “Poecía” instead of “Poesía” as a gesture of self-naming and as an unofficial poetics: not a highbrow genre, but a meditation that eludes capitalist logic, seeking freedom in language and voice.

Inspired by Cecilia Pavón and Fernanda Laguna, they conceive of “poecía” as an open container where everything fits: messages, receipts, voices, objects, emotions, fragments of everyday life. Here, each work engages in a dialogue with a poem—handwritten, printed, or read aloud—interweaving image, word, and sound.

For the first time, we are welcoming a Lebanese resident—it is a pleasure to introduce SERGE NASR (Lebanon, 1999), who will be providing the musical backdrop for June at Residencia Corazón

“As a synthesizer performer in Beirut’s vibrant music scene, I’m eager to explore new creative horizons in a fresh environment. My goal is to produce music that incorporates diverse soundscapes from my travels. I firmly believe that collaboration and intercultural exchange are essential for growth, pushing creatives beyond their limits to innovate and experiment. Argentina, with its rich musical heritage, is the perfect destination for me to immerse myself, connect with other artists, and discover potential synergies for future projects.”

Serge holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Communications Engineering with a specialization in electronics for the music industry from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon.
