Conversations we could have had
For me, a portrait is a representation of a meeting, an encounter or a connection between two people – the artist and the subject. Both parties act together to create an image. For Conversations We Could Have Had, I set out to create images and engage in meaningful interactions with strangers in the streets of La Plata, Buenos Aires. With the increasing use of technology that is used in public spaces in everyday life, individuals are growing more isolated from one another. Whether it be smoking outside of a restaurant, standing in a long line at the supermarket or waiting for the bus, we choose to ignore one another more often than not. I chose to use technology - an older form - my Pentax 35mm film camera to bring me closer to people I had never met. Despite my very limited Spanish, I was able to communicate in one way or another with all of my subjects and create something with them that might not have been. I wanted to created images that reflected the intimacy that can occur between two strangers and show what a small interaction in a busy day can result in. I believe that if we are able to become more present with the people around us in this rapidly changing world we won't miss opportunities for conversations we could have had.

The Wanderer

A never ending migration, a search for home and magic.
I am interested in the universal connection people have with one another through their imaginations.
My desire is to draw out that imagination with my work.
