Mi trabajo se basa en el crecimiento y la decadencia de las ciudades y las civilizaciones, en una visión macro cósmica del tiempo y de cómo nosotros –los seres humanos- construimos narrativas históricas. Me interesa la tensión entre los hombres y la naturaleza, la organización que le tratamos de imponer a la tierra, el rol de la tecnología y su influencia sobre nuestra percepción del mundo. Me atrae particularmente el trabajo con elementos múltiples, utilizando las mismas imágenes y formas repetidas, en diferentes contextos, para explorar cómo los signos y los significantes mutan y pierden su significado fijo. En este proceso, espero que mis formas ganen fluidez de sentido e imiten el crecimiento y la decadencia de las civilizaciones.

Este conjunto de obras explora las estructuras subyacentes al crecimiento y la decadencia orgánica, topográfica y mecánica. Quería desnudar la piel de nuestras experiencias comunes en estos entornos para comparar y contrastar los vocabularios inherentes al crecimiento y el retroceso de la naturaleza, la arquitectura y la tecnología. Con este trabajo espero poder exponer las similitudes escondidas por debajo de las estructuras, que a pesar de estar ocultas, influencian la manera en que vemos el mundo.



My work largely deals with the growth and decay of cities and civilizations over a macrocosmic view of time and how we, as humans, construct narratives of history. I am interested in the tension between man and nature, the organization we try to impose upon the land and the role of technology in influencing our perception of the world. I am particularly interested in working with multiples and using the same images and forms repeatedly, with different contextualizations, to explore how signs and signifiers mutate and lose their fixed meaning. In this process, I hope my forms gain a fluidity of meaning and mimic the growth and decay of civilizations. This body of work explores the underlying structures behind organic, topographical, and mechanical growth and decay. I wanted to strip back the skin of our common experiences in these realms in order to compare and contrast the vocabularies inherent to the growth and decay of nature, architecture, and technology. In doing so, I hope to expose the underlying similarities in the structures that remain hidden, but inform our view of the world.
